AUDIO TOOLS PART III of V: DeEssers

What is a DeEsser?  Why do you need one?  ALSO, how do you use it??

In this third week of the Christmas audio course, I cover the DeEsser.  This is a fascinating tool because it combines the dynamics processing of a compression with the Frequency modulation of an EQ.  The easiest way to explain the DeEsser is that it truly De-"s's" the signal.  When the human voice speaks an "S" or "F" sound, there is a harshness that can pop out in the recording.  We call this Sibilance.  The DeEsser compresses those frequencies at a given threshold for a nicer sound.  This week's Audio Tools Course below:
